Valentina Rekevics was born on June 13, 1919 and passed away on Dec. 5, 2006. She was born in Nvorossysk, Russia and grew up in Latvia. Valentina and husband Ed fled their homeland during the 2nd World War and came to the U.S. in 1949 after spending several years in a German displaced persons camp. They first settled in Montana and then moved to the Northwest after ten years. They lived the American Dream and enjoyed a wonderful life. Val was blessed with a gentle, sweet demeanor, who was loved by many and will be greatly missed. Valentina is survived by her husband Ed, married for 66 years, 6 children; Girts (Judy) Rekevics, Renate (Bob) Johnson, John (Cherie) Rekevics, Margie Tyndall, Ingrid (Dave) Headland, Dave (Sheryl) Rekevics, 11 grandchildren; Stacy (Tom) Doyle, Michael Rekevics, Jessica, Christine, Susan, and Steven Tyndall, Christopher and Brian Headland, Brianna, Kendra, and Danelle Rekevics, and 2 great-grandchildren; Shaina and Drew Doyle. Services will be held Saturday, December 9th 2006, 11:00 a.m., at Big Lake Community Church of the Nazarene, 23684 DaLacy Lane, Mt. Vernon, WA. 98274
