Obituary

Vicki Rhea Schreifels, was born October 21, 1957 in Great Falls, Montana to Arthur G Schreifels and Thelma L (McManus) Schreifels. Vicki is the eighth child of twelve, having eight sisters and three brothers.

Vicki passed away on December 5th, 2024 in Mount Vernon, WA after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Vicki lived in Great Falls, Montana until 1959 when the family moved to Seattle, WA. Where Vicki attended elementary school. The family moved to Skagit Valley in 1971, Vicki graduated from Burlington High School in 1976.  After high school Vicki attended Skagit Valley College where she obtained her certificate in Drug and Alcohol Abuse counselling. She worked for Catholic Community Services as a youth counselor. She moved to Everson, WA where she raised her two children, Tyler and Renae.  After her children had graduated Vicki moved to Brewster, MN for a few years, then moved back to Washington, living in Davenport, WA until she moved back to Skagit Valley near the end of 2022.

Vicki was an avid gardener whose dream was to have a self-sustaining lifestyle by raising and canning vegetables, fruit and meat.  She had several horses and loved to ride, going on several trail rides with her friends.  Vicki had a great love of animals and bred Rat Terriers.  Vicki also raised her own sheep for their fleece, converting it into wool and making clothing, and blankets.

Vicki is survived by her son Tyler Huizenga (Emily) and their son Clark Huizenga. Her daughter Renae Huizenga (Matt Bennett) and their daughter Lillian Bennett.

Vicki is also survived by her siblings Connie (Harry) Meyer, Leah (Steve) Meissner, Diane Bee, Larry (Cleo) Schreifels, Joan (George) Ruiz, Cathy January, Linda Schreifels, Loretta Schreifels, John Schreifels and Kelly (TJ) Wayenberg.

Vicki is proceeded in death by her parents Arthur and Thelma Schreifels, brother Gregg Schreifels and nephews Nicholas Kison and Tony Meissner.

Vicki had a great love and faith in God, she believed that Jesus was her savior and received comfort from that belief till the end. Vicki attended the Inspire Church in Burlington, WA.

We would like to thank Hospice of the Northwest for giving Vicki and Vicki's family so much support during this time.
