Violet (Roach) Drake was born March 19, 1936 to William and Lilly Roach, in Litchfield Illinois. She was one of fourteen children. Violet passed away just before her 79th birthday on March 14, 2015, surrounded by her children. Violet was working at a restaurant in her hometown when she was introduced to her first husband Don Drake. She followed Don to Washington State, and found work as a nanny. Violet and Don spent many years traveling as he worked on the pipeline. They settled down in Burlington Washington and had three children. In 1979, Violet married Don Faber. The Faber's made their home in Conway and were divorced in 2002. Violet worked as a waitress and a cook at many restaurants throughout Skagit County. Many people were poured a cup of hot coffee at Cranes Café by Violet's steady hand. Later in life, Violet started cooking when she took a position at the Alger Tavern and the Conway Pub. Nobody made potato salad like Violet. Her last position was at Drummond's Restaurant. Violet was a loving mother and grandma. She was preceded in death by her parents, and 11 brothers and sisters. Surviving Violet are her daughter's Angela and husband Kirk Walden (Tanner and Alissa); Lily and husband Troy Greene (Jacob, Jarid and June); Son, Darron Drake and wife Annie Drake (Rachel, Karris and Mallory). One sister, Mary Lahr and one brother Charles (Sammy) Roach both of in Illinois. We will miss her sharp sense of humor, her love of shopping and her potato salad. The family would like to thank Skagit Hospice and Visiting Angels for the support and care. A celebration of life will be at a later date.
