Obituary

Bill Reinstra died Thursday, April 27, 2017 in Mount Vernon, WA.

He was born on January 3, 1929 to John W. & Lillian (Lee) Reinstra in Oak Harbor, WA where he grew up helping his father & grandfather in the masonry business. Later he tried his hand at commercial fishing with his father.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953, being stationed in Germany with an occupation troop.

After returning home he met, and later married, Blanche Wyman on April 30, 1954. Together they owned and operated the Oyster Bar Restaurant on Chuckanut Drive in Bow, WA from 1954 to 1967, where their sons Jerry and Jack began their lives.

Afterward, Bill & Blanche moved the family to Sedro-Woolley. At that time Bill bought shares in the Anacortes Plywood Mill, working there for three years, until he & Blanche bought a "Mom & Pop" grocery store on the main street of Sedro-Woolley. That adventure being unsuccessful, Bill began working at Uniflight Boat Builders in Bellingham, WA in 1970 where he worked for about 20 years building interiors & furniture for pleasure crafts. He retired upon the closing of the company and shortly after in 1993 they moved to Mount Vernon.

During his retirement, he & Blanche camped frequently at Fort Casey State Park and did a lot of clam digging, where they met many long-term friends.

Bill also enjoyed building furniture and other wooden items, which he was very proud of.

A couple of years after Blanche's death in 2010 Bill moved with his son Jack in Mount Vernon, where he resided until seven weeks ago when he was moved to the Bridge of Mount Vernon, into assisted living.

His parents, his wife and his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law preceded Bill in death.

His son Jerry and wife Debby of Everett, his son Jack of Mount Vernon, grandson Dennis of Everett, his sister Dorothy Gillman and sister Donna Connite of Arizona, sisters-in-law Juanita Goodman, Wanda Wyman and Janice Wyman and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins survive him.

At Bill's request there will be no memorial service. However, there will be a time for friends and family to gather for a hug and a memory to share at his son Jack's home in Mount Vernon on Saturday, May 6 from 1:00 to 4:00pm.

Many thanks go out to those who had a part in caring for him!
