Obituary

William Paul Wagner was born on November 18, 1953 in Van Nuys, California and passed away on November 19, 2021 in Mount Vernon, Washington.

William Paul grew up in Southern California, and was educated at Calahan Elementary School, in Northridge.  And he went to Nobel Junior High School there as well.  His family moved to Utah when he was a teenager where he completed his education and graduated from Bonneville High School.  He enlisted in the Navy shortly after graduation. He met the love of his life, Vicki Lyn Velbell in Utah, they married in Las Vegas, Nevada in 1974.  They were blessed with two beautiful children, a son, Jeremy, and a daughter, Amy.  He proudly served in the Navy for 7 ½ years aboard ship for a time, in San Diego, California, and on Whidbey Island.  He was a member of the Military Service Honors which honored fallen veterans, it was his honor to do this.

He loved his family dearly. And he loved his fishing. He became quite accomplished at the art of catching Steelhead, and oceangoing trout.  His expertise earned him a featured segment on an episode of Fishing the West, where he enthusiastically shared his tips about how to catch them. He was also very proud of going back to school and earning an MBA.

He was involved with the Boy Scouts of America, and mentored his son in the pursuit of an Eagle Scout badge, the highest award given.

He is survived by his widow, Vicki Wagner, and his children. His son, Jeremy and his daughter, Amy.  He is also survived by this brother-in-law, Alan and wife Christine. Also by his other sister-in-law Elaine, and her husband, Rob.  He is also survived by various nieces and nephews, and his three siblings.  He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary Wagner, and his in laws, Victor and Audrey Velbell.

The family wishes to thank Hawthorne Funeral Home and Memorial Park in Washington, and Myers Mortuary in Roy, Utah for their services.  Graveside services will be held November 30, 2021.  A Celebration of Life will be held in Mount Vernon, Washington after the holidays.

Special thanks to Fresenlus Medical Care, and Mira Vista Care Center for their compassionate care during his final days.
