William D. "Dale" Whitson Dale was born August 31, 1927 in Minot, ND to Wilmer and Gladys Whitson; he passed away peacefully at his home in Mount Vernon May 4, 2013 surrounded by his family. Dale married Ione Gallup June 14, 1953. Dale worked at the Texaco Refinery in Sunburst, MT until relocating to Burlington, WA in 1958 for the opening of the Texaco Refinery in Anacortes, WA. Dale worked at Texaco until his retirement in 1986. He married Janice Monroe May 24, 1997. In retirement Dale enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren, and friends. He also enjoyed gardening, camping and ice cream at Pearrygin with grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter: Elaine Whitson; first wife: Ione Whitson (1989). He is survived by his wife, Janice; daughter: Sharon (Larry) LaRue, step-children: Scott (Vickie) Monroe and Jill (Steve) Elwick; grandchildren: Michael Marques, Kenneth Marques, Ashley LaRue, Matthew LaRue, Kate (Kevin) Edwards, Tucker Elwick, Taren Elwick, Jamie Monroe, Kaylee Monroe; twin-sisters: Jane (Arnold) Erber and Jean Schmidt; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A private graveside service will be held at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 11, 2013, 2:00 pm at the La Conner Methodist Church, with a reception to follow.
