Wilma Janette Ekkelkamp Wilma was born April 27, 1915 in McBain, Michigan to Tom and Grace Hamming , the oldest of 12 children; she went to be with her Lord on August 5, 2007 in Mount Vernon. Wilma moved to the Northwest with her family in 1919. She lived in Whatcom County and Oak Harbor area where she married John Ekkelkamp August 14, 1937 in Oak Harbor; they then settled in Mount Vernon in 1940. Wilma is survived by her children: Jerry (Marion) Ekkelkamp, Donna Bryant, Nancy (Alan) Jongsma all of Mount Vernon; 9 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and 9 siblings. She was preceded in death by her husband, John; brother, Kenneth; and sister, Betty. She loved spending time and being with her family. Viewing will be held Thursday, August 9, 2007, 9:00 am until the Graveside Service, 1:00 pm at Hawthorne Memorial Park; followed by a Memorial Service, 2:00 pm at the First Christian Reformed Church on Blackburn. Memorials may be made in Wilma's name to Mount Vernon Christian School.
